Hiring a Car in Kemer: What Do Excess, Deposit and Desk Extras Mean?
Updated October 23, 2026 · 6 min read
The short answer
The lowest price is not enough to choose a hire car in Kemer. Open the rental conditions and compare five items: the excess, the security deposit, the accepted card, the fuel policy and any charge for an additional or young driver. These values belong to the exact car and supplier; there is no honest single figure for Kemer.
The safest practical choice is the offer whose deposit your card can cover and whose exclusions you understand, even when another car has a lower headline price. Compare Kemer cars and open each offer’s rental conditions.
Excess, CDW and Full Coverage are different things
CDW limits what the rental company can charge for certain damage, but it commonly leaves an excess: the part for which you remain liable. Tyres, glass, the underside, keys or incorrect fuel may follow separate rules. Read the inclusions rather than treating “CDW included” as “nothing can cost me money”.
Discover Cars’ Full Coverage is a separate reimbursement product. Its terms say that it does not replace the rental company’s cover. In most cases you still leave the supplier’s security deposit and, after covered damage, provide the required documents to claim reimbursement. That distinction matters at the Kemer counter: buying Full Coverage online does not automatically remove the card block.
What the deposit actually does
The security deposit is money blocked or taken by the rental company for possible excess, fuel, tolls, fines or other charges under its terms. It is not the same as the rental price. The required amount and accepted payment method appear in the conditions of the particular offer.
Check whose name is on the card. Discover Cars requires the documents listed for the booking and says the card used for the deposit must normally be accepted under the supplier’s rules and match the main driver’s name. A card belonging only to a travelling partner may therefore fail at collection. Also check the available limit, not merely the account balance.
Costs that can appear at the desk
An additional driver, a child seat, an upgrade, a one-way return, extra days or a young-driver charge may be payable locally when the specific conditions say so. Additional drivers normally have to be present with the documents required by the supplier. Do not assume an online photo of a larger car guarantees that exact model; bookings are generally for a vehicle class.
The fuel policy changes the calculation too. “Full to full” means returning the vehicle with the agreed fuel level; another policy can include a fuel charge or service element. Photograph the gauge and bodywork at collection and make sure existing damage appears on the handover record.
The five-minute check before booking
- Match the main driver’s name across booking, driving licence and payment card.
- Note the deposit and excess separately; they answer different questions.
- Read what CDW excludes and what any optional coverage reimburses.
- Check fuel, mileage, border and late-return rules for the exact offer.
- Add every required extra before comparing the final totals.
If a condition is unclear, ask before arrival rather than negotiating after a flight. No Kemer-wide deposit or minimum age can be promised because suppliers set different rules. Choose the transparent offer, then review its live conditions and final price before entering payment details.
